Volunteer

Volunteers are the backbone of Crossroads. We are blessed to have volunteers work with our clients to provide a listening ear and the gift of hope.
  • Sponsor a Summer Lunch: 30-80 kids and their parents come for lunch five days per week, Monday-Friday, during the summer. Choose a date to purchase, prepare and serve lunch. (Group opportunity) Contact 313-831-2787.
  • Social Service Receptionist: Come help us answer our phones and doors and check in clients to be seen every day. Contact us: sminers@crossroadsofmichigan.org or 313-831-2787.
  • Social Service Counselor: Help people overcome barriers to stability & self-sufficiency. This job is not necessarily for professional counselors. One full-day training plus some on-the-job training is required. Contact us: sminers@crossroadsofmichigan.org or 313-831-2787.
  • Parent Support Group Helper: Do you love working with kids? We need help with the children who are in our care while parents attend our parenting class every Tuesday from 11-noon or 1-2. Background check required. Contact: sminers@crossroadsofmichigan.org or 313-831-2787.
  • Data Entry: Input information from client files into our database so we can have accurate and up-to-date data. No experience required. Contact us: sminers@crossroadsofmichigan.org or 313-831-2787.
  • One Day Only/Group Opportunities: Don’t have time to make a long-term commitment? We always have food pantry shelves to stock, donated clothing to put away, hygiene room to organize and other projects to help with. Contact us: sminers@crossroadsofmichigan.org or 313-831-2787.

  • “I was fortunate enough to spend 1/2 day in Dec 2016 volunteering at Crossroads in Detroit. Our team of about 30 people had such a great time contributing to the organization of the clothing and personal supplies rooms. In fact, I brought a group of 6 clients back with me in January 2017 for more work and fun. This place makes a huge difference in our fellow Detroiters lives and its continued success is important to all of us!”

  • “Crossroads is an incredible organization that turns the seemingly impossible into an attainable goal. Crossroads volunteers display the utmost of class and professionalism with warm, welcoming arms. I am extremely humbled to have been a part of this experience and hope that I will get an opportunity to work with them in the future.”

  • “The reason I volunteer at Crossroads is to serve the people who are pretty much forgotten by society. To give them a voice that says ‘I exist.’
